Summary

Riverside County Library System has an immediate opening for a full time, IT Technician.

 

The IT Technician will provide customer service oriented technical support ensuring total functionality of IT equipment utilized by company staff and library patrons.  The IT Technician ensures quality and accuracy of their work in order to maintain IT systems.  Effectively communicates technical concepts and requirements in a manner appropriate to given audiences.  Provides training to staff on new systems and software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide library staff at multiple sites with day-to-day IT support
  • Set up, configure and maintain PC’s, applications, data and voice technology for new users
  • Troubleshoot PC’s, applications, data and voice issues to include network cabling and switches
  • Provide training and support to staff on Library specific software and Microsoft products
  • Work with vendors to maintain the library IT environment
  • Other duties as assigned to include IT support for regular library functions

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
  • One (1) year Helpdesk or Computer Support  In-depth knowledge of computer networking, hardware and software  systems
  •  In-depth knowledge of Windows Administration to include GPO
  •  General knowledge of computer troubleshooting
  •  Excellent written and oral communication skills
  •  Ability to communicate with diverse populations—bilingual a plus
  •  Ability to provide instruction in basic computer use –hardware and  software
  •  Understanding of basic firewall and security concepts
  •  General knowledge of Virtualization and cloud computing
  •  Good analytical skills
  •  General knowledge of Window back-up and imaging procedures
  •  Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds
  •  Must be flexible to work days, evenings and weekends
  •  Must have a reliable vehicle for traveling to various library branches
